 | AP CALCULUS Earlier this year, all ten students enrolled in the AP calculus class at Delton Kellogg High School took the AP calculus test. 80% passed the test with the following scores: two students achieved a perfect 5, five students achieved a 4 and one student achieved a 3. This means that 70% had a score of four or better (the national average for four or better on the AP calculus exam is about 38%) Students can receive college credit if they get a grade of three or better. Two students, Grady Cook and Jill Newton achieved a perfect score of five. Interestingly, Jill Newton took the AP test as a junior. Congratulations to the AP calculus class of 2006-2007! |

| | Delton High School Auto Shop - The Giving Spirit The Delton Kellogg School District has for many years reached out to the community to help folks who are in need. So when knowledge of a middle school child in medical crisis became apparent, teachers from the Middle School bought the necessary materials and enlisted the help of teachers Andra Newington and Eric Curtice from the High School. Together with their High School Auto Shop students they spent two days repairing the family’s vehicle that was needed to transport the child three times a week to Grand Rapids for treatments. The two Auto Shop classes replaced the brakes, did an oil change, and completed other miscellaneous maintenance. Another High School student and member of the Gun River Ducks Unlimited Foundation approached the organization for their support. As a result the GRDU has offered to pay for an additional oil change, tire rotation & balance as a raffle prize to benefit the family. The oil and filter are to be provided by Dan’s Delton Auto. Eric Curtice, states that “These experiences are not only a great way for the students to gain an educational experience but also to learn to give back to a family in need and support other worthy causes.” Way to go Middle School, and High School staff, Auto Shop students, Gun River DU and Dan’s Delton Auto for your support in making Delton Kellogg Schools a integral part of the greater community. |
