Boys Cross Country Earns Academic All-State
The D-K boys cross country team recently added 'Academic All-State' to its list of accomplishments from this past season. Not only did the team qualify for the MHSAA State Finals, their cumulative grade point average of 3.709 ranks seventh out of all teams that competed at the meet. This year's competitors at the Finals were Ryan Watson, Brandon Humphreys, Nick Rendon, Tyler Bourdo, Kannon Hoffman, Mike Bassett, and Zac Haas.
On top of the team honors, sophomore Ryan Watson earned individual Academic All-State honors. By combining his 4.0 grade point average with his finish at the meet, Ryan ranked seventh out of the entire field of competitors. Not bad for his first year ever participating in cross country!
Varsity Volleyball Wraps Up Record-Setting Season
The varsity volleyball team capped off an outstanding season over the weekend at the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek. In Friday night's semifinal match against #8 ranked Livonia Ladywood. The Panthers rolled past Ladywood in a quick three-set victory (25-10, 25-17, 25-18).
Making the first state finals appearance in school history, Delton faced #1 ranked North Branch on Saturday afternoon. Our Panthers fought for three sets (25-19, 30-28, 25-23), but eventually fell in the state championship match.
No matter the result of the final match, our team had the best season in school history. Aside from the success on the court, they also carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 in the classroom and brought what appeared to be the entire Delton community together during the state tournament run.
If you missed the final two matches or just want to see them again, they are available online at www.mhsaa.tv
